Who We Help
About Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation
Texas Dental Association Smiles Foundation is a non-profit organization set up by the Texas Dental Association to help Texans in need receive access to dental care. TDHS gives volunteer dentists the opportunity to treat patients in their own office if they choose, or they can be part of a mobile dental hospital setting. Currently almost 750 dentists statewide have committed to treat at least one patient with comprehensive care this year through the Donated Dental Service (DDS) program underwritten by TDHS. To date, well over two million dollars in donated care has been provided by this dental volunteer network. In addition, with help from local dental organizations like the NTDS, TDHS sponsors school nurse referral programs in cities such as Frisco and McKinney. And on selected weekends during the year, TDHS underwrites the Texas Mission of Mercy where the last two years over separate weekends, almost $1,000,000.00 worth of dental and medical care was delivered to needy areas of the state.
